7. Give WSDL URL, endpoint and operation are automatically selected.
Just to clear, you have to select Operation, it is not selected automatically.
For "Query" operation, Define Request Mapping is disabled in SP03 but you can define RESPONSE mapping. (FYI: in SP04, it is possible to define Request mapping through custom code).
Is RESPONSE MAPPING disable for you?
Secondly, Assuming that i am using SAP SMP SP 3, how can i wire up Basic Authentication for a SOAP Web service, considering that i dont have an option to write custom code.
I guess, it is not supported in SP03. You have to go for SP04. Check this comment:

Integration of authenticated SOAP web services are (unfortunatelly) not possible at the moment. You might need to wait for the coming SMP3 SP04 ...
